Even for the simplest damn thing I can spend an hour wading through installing/uninstalling utterly useless spamware. They are really terrible compared to Google Play or the App store, and little more than a GUI hiding the package manager, only making a terrible solution for software management worse.įor a company that prides itself on search, I absolutely despise the google play app store. Desktop Linux could be fixed to be commercially viable in a year, but there’s no way to put a business man in control to do so. So here we are with Windows 10 and no real competition on x86, while Apple looks to be switching to their own custom ARM chips for everything soon. Even if one Linux distro abandons it and does something like create their own SDK (including GUI and any desktop APIs) for all other Linux desktops to use, none of the other Linux distros will follow. The fact that Android, iOS, and OSX are successful is because of design decisions that Linux won’t abandon, primarily what’s going on with package managers as a fix for non existent problems such as not wasting disk space in the era of 3TB hard drives for less than $100 USD. They are really terrible compared to Google Play or the App store, and little more than a GUI hiding the package manager, only making a terrible solution for software management worse. These in particular have a search that’s total garbage where you can type in the name of the software and it still refuses to find it until you know the exact package name, or returns multiple results and doesn’t tell the user the difference between them. I do take particular issue with the “Highly curated software catalog” point though. The general opinion is still the same, use it for a few weeks and then practically everyone goes back to Windows or Mac. This fosters the kind of thinking that prevents you from being locked into a platform or ecosystem too easily.Ĭome on now, there are an endless amount of articles like this about Linux. Regardless of any preferences you think you might have, assuming you have the means to do so, it is always a good idea set some time apart every now and then and take a good look at the system you’re using, possible alternatives, and how difficult it would be to switch. Here are five-plus reasons why you could easily wind up preferring Linux instead of Windows as the default operating system on your desktop or laptop. Had enough of Windows 10’s hassles? Unless you plan to install Windows 7, which is going to lose support from Microsoft on January 14, 2020, or have the cash to spare for an Apple device, there aren’t many other options for a computer operating system except some flavor of Linux.Īlthough you can expect a learning curve when changing platforms, Windows users who are curious about the state of Linux for mainstream computing might come away surprisingly satisfied after finding a suitable distribution for their machine and spending time getting familiar with the new environment.

Later in the game it is more of damaging him enough so he blows his E, but 1v1 late game fizz can easily win. Try to avoid getting in range of his Q post 6 because it's easy to shark and Q at the same time. However, if you're smart with your W then you can react to the fish once it's thrown. Zone him off cs while your sigil is on him or if he still trys to cs then W him. In this matchup fizz will be worried about your W damage early game and try to avoid it. Don't be so obvious and do your combo quickly or else even bad fizz players can E it. Harassing with your Q + W early game is important and fairly easy to do since he's melee. It has a long cooldown early game and uses a lot of mana. The key to trading with fizz is to trade when his e is down. Dodge it with your W or try to get boots early and have some tricky footwork.ĭon't see this matchup a lot anymore. Zed maxes this and when he hits a double shadow or triple shadow Q, it HURTS. BUILD HOURGLASS, if you wanna get close and person it's all about dodging his Q, that is all you should be thinking about. Early game wait until he uses his Q to farm, once he does that you can zone him off cs until it's back up. It cuts his ability to out trade you by a lot. Early game you can win, but you have to be fast with your W or else he will auto E, Q you if you're slow going back to your pad. Usually when zeds all in they have back up so try to save your R. You either have to W back or R toward your turret. If he ults then you W away after he returns he will follow you with his shadow. Saving your W and your R is important to getting away when he does ult you. His ult is on a long cooldown and yours is not. Knowing his ult and working around it will help you to win. He can ult to dissolve your W or E when you go in. You have to be good with your chain to win this. Now that they are hurting and you are close, slap a chain on them to slow and stun them before dropping a Mimic’d Distortion or Shatter Orb for the kill.Good zed players will win this matchup usually. Place Sigil of Malice on your target with a quick Shatter Orb, wait for it to charge, and then hop on top of them with Distortion. While the other assassin’s try their best to hide in the shadows, LeBlanc hides in plain sight. Maybe they will go for your clone while you slip away or jump to grab another kill. The key to her new kit is remembering that your opponent doesn’t know which one you are. Instead, you really have to play against a LeBlanc now to understand her deceptive abilities. New LB is a little hard to describe, and it is difficult to see her power through the players eyes. This can be used to really confuse enemies in a team fight or to scare a aggressive side lane opponent, making them think that they are being roamed on. The clone will run to the nearest enemy and cast one of LBs spells (does no damage). Casting the Mimic version of Mimic will spawn a clone of LB wherever the player chooses (anywhere on the map). Mimic also has the ability to be double cast. Now that Mimic always spawns a clone, it makes playing against LeBlanc much scarier, because you never know which one is the correct one. Now instead of just copying the last ability that LeBlanc cast, it will spawn a clone of LeBlanc and allow for either Q, W, or E to be cast with additional damage. Where LB gets interesting now is with her Ultimate, Mimic. If it hits a target that is already under the effect of Sigil of Malice, Shatter Orb will bounce between all nearby Sigil of Malice effected targets. LB just shoots an orb our of her staff that deals damage to stuff it hits. Her Q, Shatter Orb, got a fancy new name and a few fancy effects. If LeBlanc hits a target with a activated Sigil of Malice, the sigil will pop and the target will take massive damage. After a few seconds, the sigil will become activated. Now when LeBlanc hits a target with any of her abilities they will be marked with a Sigil of Malice. LeBlanc’s new passive is actually just her old Q. The remaining 12 points will go into Ferocity. After the song was written, he stated, "I've always wanted to write a song about redemption and how everyone has the ability to redeem themselves somehow". Sam came up with the idea of basing the song around a homeless man. The song originated when songwriter Annie Tate and her husband, Sam, were working with their friend and songwriting partner Dave Berg to construct a song about people having their moments. He remembers his own " Moments, days in the sun." The young man then walks away from the bridge, imagining the older man telling his friends about his moments, including " that cool night on the East Street bridge / When a young man almost ended it / I was right there, wasn't scared a bit / And I helped to pull him through". 03 - Emerson Drive - Countrified - Moments.mp3 - 9.54 MB 04 - Emerson Drive - Countrified - Sweet Natural Girl.mp3 - 8.3 MB 05 - Emerson Drive - Countrified - You Still Own Me.mp3 - 7. The fried mozzarella appetizer is technically more of a Spanish tapas thing, but hey, it’s mozzarella and it’s lightly fried and who doesn’t love that combination, so mangia, already. No disrespect to your mom’s cooking if you eat every bite, right? A little less butter, paired with herb-roasted potatoes rather than a heavier mashed potato side, and simple green beans. The chicken piccata one of our companion ordered for old time’s sake (“Aw, my mom used to make that”) is one of those Italian classics that Papa Razzi has lightened up a bit. There will be seasonal changes on the menu, so summer’s tomatoes will likely give way to autumn’s root vegetables, and the lobster tagliatelle with sweet creamed corn may drop the corn as it goes out of season, making way for new possibilities. The grilled salmon, breathtakingly fresh, was served with couscous, roasted vegetables from Verrill Farm in Concord, with a nutty pesto sauce made with pistachios instead of the usual pine nuts. With that in mind, Papa Razzi gives their Culinary Arts Director Kevin Dilibero (formerly of Pane e Vino, Providence) all the creative liberties he needs to keep things far from straying into a red-sauce/white tablecloth cliche of an Italian joint. The grilled salmon, breathtakingly fresh. It’s real food for a sophisticated suburban family crowd that’s been to the North End and maybe even Italy itself, and knows what’s good. You needn’t wonder if the parmesan cheese comes from a green plastic cylinder with sprinkle holes. You don’t have to ask your server if the mushrooms on the pizza are canned. A little less butter or cream here, a surprise ingredient or pairing there, and an emphasis on fresh ingredients throughout. The food is what you’d expect from Papa Razzi because make no mistake, this is still an Italian restaurant that serves Italian food to customers looking for well-prepared classics like bruschetta, pasta fagioli soup, pizza, bolognese, linguine with meatballs, shrimp with cannellini beans, and chicken piccatta. It’s entirely separate from the dining area giving it a very adults-only feel. There are also seasonal cocktails and a selection of Italian microbrews along with wines, mostly Italian, some from California, which you can order by the bottle or in a 3- or 6-ounce pour. In the bar area they serve their full lunch and dinner menu, of course, along with drink selections that include classic Italian cocktails such as a Bellini (Prosecco, and peach nectar) and their Negroni (Grand Ten gin, Campari, Carpano Antico vermouth). Other interior changes throughout are the floors and the furniture, all dark wood, as well as rectangular light fixtures that hang close to the ceiling. Hanging domed lights lend a modern feel and give off a nice glow in the space where the long bar that seats about 25, and several tables and a couple small booths are scattered throughout the rest of the area. As you walk in, take a look to the left at the bar area. Some less surprising changes: the restaurant seats 250+ and the private dining room has space for 100 the bar area has tripled in size and the area now seats about 45 the patio area has been expanded to 44 seats and is expected to open soon and the menu has been refreshed. (See our post, “They paved the paradise that was Mark’s Pizza and put in a parking lot”.)ĭan Lederer, Marketing Coordinator for Newport Harbor, Papa Razzi’s parent company said, “Roughly twelve more spaces were created, however, with the way the new lot is designed it will allow for our valet company to take roughly 30 more cars more easily than ever before, preventing waits and back-ups.” About those coveted parking spaces…you know that saying, “no pain, no gain”? Well, the extra spaces came about because another popular spot, Mark’s Pizza & Subs, was torn down to make room for minivans, BMWs, and the occasional Tesla. A welcome change is the increase in much-needed parking spaces, but Papa Razzi didn’t pull that asphalt real estate out of thin air. Looking like a transplanted divine patroness of an Italianate garden, she survived the construction bustle to continue her reign over the front end of the restaurant, there to remind customers that some things are permanent. The restaurant has undergone many changes, but the life-sized classical stone statue the staff says everyone calls “Spring” remains. I walked into the newly renovated Wellesley Hills Papa Razzi at summer’s end and was greeted by Spring. Generally these are set up with a qualified financial institution that distributes your funds to charities they suggest as well as to those you recommend. Donor-Advised funds- If you’d like to make a charitable contribution today but still need time to decide exactly which charities to give to, a donor-advised fund is the right choice for you. You can deduct any out of pocket expenses for materials, supplies, uniforms, parking and tolls, but the value of the work you actually perform is non-deductible.ĥ. For example, you can deduct the cost of driving to and from the volunteer location, at a rate of $0.14 per mile. Volunteering- Any out-of-pocket expenses you pay on behalf of a charity you volunteer for may be deductible, even though the actual time spent volunteering is not deductible. When you make a donation even partly in exchange for goods or services in excess of $75, the charity will provide you with a good faith estimate of the goods and services received and the amount exceeding the benefit’s value.Īmount of the deduction? Your deduction is limited to the difference between the value of the cash or property you donated and the value of the benefit you received from the qualifying charity.Ĥ. For example, if you donate $150 to a charity and the charity gives you a $50 concert ticket in return, you have made a quid pro quo contribution. Quid pro quo donations- Essentially, a donor can receive a benefit in return for a contribution through this tactic. In situations where you are donating appreciated property that would have qualified for long-term capital gain treatment if you had decided to sell it instead of donate it, you are permitted to deduct the property’s FMV (Fair Market Value) and avoid being taxed on the appreciation since there was never a sale to trigger gain recognition.Īmount of the deduction? Donations of capital gain property are typically limited to 30% of your AGI, but any excess is subject to the same carry-forward rules as monetary donations.ģ. Property donations- Donating property can sometimes result in a bonus tax break. Note that the donation must go to a qualified charity, which you can verify on the IRS Exempt Organizations Select Check.Īmount of the deduction? The amount of this deduction is 60% of your AGI (adjusted gross income), and any excess can be carried forward up to five years.Ģ. Monetary donations- Cash and cash-equivalent contributions are generally tax deductible. Though most people donate to charitable causes for philanthropic reasons, there is also another incentive to donate-a tax deduction, which everyone could use a refresher on.ġ. Last year donations from individuals in the United States reached just under $327 billion. Studies have shown that charitable giving is steadily on the rise due to recent tragedies and natural disasters. Looking to donate to charity this year? Looks like you’re not alone.
